Boston ad agency Arnold was looking at me to direct a Jack Daniels commercial, but they wanted a more natural lighting look. Since my work tends to be slick and stylized, they needed a boost of confidence. I told my rep to give me a night and I'd give her some more examples of my work to show them. I ran to Bevmo and picked out some things that looked tasty, hit up Target for a few props, and headed back home. I hauled all my equipment out and set the shoot up in my living room. It was already 5pm when I got home, so in order to not kill myself, I decided to keep the ads short. Something in the 6 second YouTube to 15 second Instagram realm. I set up a high key lighting style for this particular example. While offloading the footage, I grabbed my OP-1 synthesizer (that's a musical instrument) and got to work on some tracks. Honestly, sometimes looking for the right music takes more time than just making it.
So now the question is, "Did you get the job?" Yes. Yes I did.
